Safety
Seaplane safety is at the core of the Seaplane Pilots Association mission to protect and promote the water flying community.
We all understand that there is a certain amount of risk associated with flying any type of aircraft, including seaplanes, and it is our goal to provide resources to help seaplane pilots operate their aircraft as safely as possible for themselves, their passengers, and the general public.
We achieve this by:
- Providing seaplane safety seminars and workshops
- Partnering with companies that specialize in providing advanced seaplane safety training
- Providing products such as personal floatation devices, seat-belt cutters and emergency breathing devices for seaplane operators
- Analyzing seaplane accident statistics and working with insurance underwriters to develop training programs that specifically address the human factors involved in seaplane accidents
- Producing seaplane safety training videos, articles published in Water Flying magazine, and safety programs and content distributed via social media
- Partnering with flight instructors, seaplane schools, and manufacturers to create training programs designed to develop good seaplane piloting techniques and procedures, and develop safety-related products for aircraft
