Northwoods Aviation is a professional, licensed flight school that has operated its floatplane training in beautiful Northern Michigan for more than 40 years. The Cadillac, Michigan, area is surrounded by numerous lakes of various sizes providing a diverse training environment. The standard seaplane rating consists of flight and ground instruction, training manual, and aircraft for the checkride. Pilots normally complete the rating in two to three days. Northwoods Aviation also offers recurrent, advanced seaplane, amphibious training, flight reviews, tailwheel, and skiplane training. Many students will earn their tailwheel endorsement prior to seaplane rating which gives them a great feel for stick-and-rudder flying. Tailwheel training is available throughout the entire year.
