Our office is now located in a new hangar at Lake Hood. This new location provides a great maintenance facility, classroom space, and pilot lounge. ACME Cub Training offers float training, back-country/off-airport training, and ski training. We teach pilots how to identify usable landing areas and make “go, no-go” decisions. We teach pilots to notice the conditions and factors that lead to the dreaded “Moose Stall” and how to avoid these situations. Float instruction season begins in May each year when the ice goes out at the Lake Hood Seaplane Base. We have been giving floatplane instruction at Space 801 since 1991. The curriculum is fine-tuned and teaches pilots to be safe and capable to fly in the conditions they will experience in the Alaska Bush. Our Single-Engine Seaplane course includes a segment to individualize the training to the student’s needs. We focus this time on the areas that the student is having difficulty with, or we add advanced techniques when working with a pilot that progresses ahead of schedule.
