The Rochester Air Center is located in western New York, in the heart of the Finger Lakes region. Train for your seaplane rating minutes away from five different Finger Lakes with miles of shoreline and water as well as protected bays on Lake Ontario. This allows plenty of practical experience flying the seaplane and on-the-water maneuvering. Practice amphibious operations from boat ramp to hard-surface parking in Hammondsport, New York, on Keuka Lake near the Glenn Curtiss Museum and the annual seaplane homecoming.
We work with two Designated Pilot Examiners to make it a seamless process from training to checkride when you are ready. The Rochester Air Center is one of the very few places that you can rent the aircraft, 15 hours amphibious time required.
